San Francisco Streetcars by San Francisco photographer Mike Sanchez, a virtual exhibit at Adele Gilani Art Gallery.
Adele Gilani Art Gallery Presents Mike Sanchez, San Francisco Streetcars, October 10 – December 15, 2020
Mike Sanchez is a multidisciplinary artist whose shiny retro-graphic images celebrate his beloved San Francisco.
San Francisco's Municipal Railway has assembled one of the most diverse collections of vintage streetcars, trolleys, and trams in transit service anywhere. Up to 20 of these vintage vehicles carry passengers along Market Street and The Embarcadero every day.
Mike Sanchez catalogs individual streetcars to highlight the unique design features of each vehicle. The city of San Francisco is abstracted as an overlay of colors and skylines, situating each streetcar in its modern-day environment, while allowing the cars themselves to shine. At last, images are mounted to wood and coated with a high-gloss resin.
